Green Power Now

If you have not already done so greening your power consumption for your home is easy. Its something everyone can do now. Even just a few dollars a month can help make a difference. Can you spare $5 a month on the well being of future generations? Here is how you do it.

Maybe Al Gore's film has convinced you. Maybe you are still skeptical about the science. Listen to these interviews for a quick refresher on how important it is for all of us to act. It was produced in December 2005.

Remember it does not matter where in North America you are and where the green power is purchased. As you can see from this map we are all interconnected. Think of it like a water tank. The green power is poured into it at one end and you drink out of it at the other. The more green water is pored in, the better. When you sign up for green power you are replacing some of the dirty power poured into the tank with clean, renewable power.

You CAN make a difference, so lets get started.

1. Dig out your last electricity bill and find out how much power you use. (we used 349 KWH last month for heat, lights and hot water.)

2. Call your local power utility and ask them if you can buy green power from them. (The number is on the bill or if you are in the US pick from this list)

3. If you can, sign up. If you can't don't despair, just tell them that you will buy green tags somewhere else. This puts them on notice that they are missing the boat.

4. Contact one of the above to buy green tags: I have listed these for your convenience. If you follow the above links and browse around a bit you will find many more. Remember it doesn't matter where you are buying the green power it still flows into the tank that you draw out of each day.
